Everything you need ends with …ería

One of Lisa’s delights, and at times frustrations, in Barcelona are the large number of specialty stores everywhere you go. There seems to be a store for just about everything. (The US has much to learn about “small business” from Barcelona, where large chain stores are not the standard.)

Some are obvious in their purpose and translation…

Arizona friends might recognize this food truck’s name referring to of churros–cinnamon sugared fried bits of dough:

While Bolleria translates from Catalán as pasteries, Croissanteria says it all.

And the mystery store–Vaqueria means dairy in Catalán–with unknown activity behind its lace curtains.

It brightens the morning commute, while expanding las chicas vocabulary in suprising ways.
